FAQ’s

What happens at the initial free consultation?

In Its Place will complete an individualized assessment of your needs.  The first step will be to gain understanding of how you do things, and what contributes to the disorganization. We will gain an understanding on how you have been doing things. We will develop an individualized solution and strategy tailored to you. We will estimate the number of hours needed to complete the project and determine the estimated price. We will also discuss what supplies, if any, are needed. You will receive a written proposal from In Its Place, and a date/time will be scheduled to begin the organizing project.


How long will it take to get me organized?

Unfortunately there is no one-size fits all answer. Every organizing job is unique. A lot depends on the level of clutter that has accumulated in the area to be organized. Generally, small jobs, such as bathrooms or closets, can be done in three hours while home offices, which usually involve a lot of paper, can take anywhere from 10-20 hours!


How much will it cost?

The first hour of consultation and planning in your home or business is always free of charge.There are a number of different ways we can work with you to help you save money – whatever works best for you is what we want:

•  We can completely organize the space for you

•   We can work side by side with you to organize your space from start to finish

•  We can do some of the organizing with you, and you can complete planned tasks in between sessions


How involved will I need to be in the process?

We usually prefer to work with the client, part of our service is to provide the client with good maintenance skills which are included in the organizing session. Also, the job can be completed much faster. However, if you choose not to be present In Its Place will complete the organizing project. Afterward, we will spend some time together in the purging portion of the project.


Are your services confidential?

Absolutely! All meetings, conversations, questions, and any written communications or client information are kept in strictest confidence, with the NAPO code of ethics in place.


Are you environmentally considerate?

In Its Place will help you decide what to donate or sell as well as give you the tools and resources to do that. We are familiar with all the local charities and recycling areas and will provide you with all that information so that you can feel good about the decision you make.


Will you make me throw away my “stuff”?

No. The final decisions are yours. We will assist you with making decisions  Your home is yours, and we want you to be surrounded by the things you love.


I’m embarrassed that my house is such a mess, but I want to be organized!

This is such a common feeling.  So many people say “it’s going to be the worst _______ (fill in the blank, office, garage, etc.) you’ve ever seen!” We can assure you that we have seen it all. We applaud you for taking the first step and asking for help.  It won’t be long before you feel better and breathe easier.
